Her voice filled his mind; a soliloquy of sound unlike anything he had ever heard. Temptation borne upon the breeze, her whispers spun his thoughts and made his heart hammer; in spite of the fact he could neither understand the language nor hear her intelligibly.
The barren terrain stretched out before him; an expanse as empty as his life had been, up until the moment he had chosen to step through the portal, anyway. The sky over head seemed the only thing to shift as he trudged across fields of pebbles and shale, but her voice drew him onward.
Then, in the distance, a shape appeared against the star-jeweled horizon.

Perfect, enticing enough to make me want more, but satisfying enough that I don’t feel cheated. Very succinct. I usually don’t enjoy flash & micro fiction for that reason. Bravo.

Thank you so much Michael 😉 I confess, I never thought I could manage to be succinct …verbose me, you know, but I am very much enjoying the challenge Flash Fiction has offered. Of course, writing more than one part rather defeats the point, but no one is complaining…lol 😉

I don’t think it defeats the point, but mum’s the word. 😁

I think you missed the word “and” between “clambered trudged” in the second line, second paragraph. I keep adding it in my head when I’m reading it. Unless you were trying for a different effect?
Wonderful imagery. Draws you in with just enough detail and letting your imagination fill in the rest.

Thanks Sargon, you are right. I deleted a segment there to keep it close to 100 words and took the ‘and’ by error. I appreciate the point out so I can correct it. I hate having editing snafus!
so glad you are enjoying it. Im trying to wrap it up, but it keeps intriguing me as well LOL 🙂
