.

Im not one to rant and Im certainly never going to give Dennis Leary a run for his money.  I tend to believe that the ranter wastes far more energy than the rantee is worth, However, there are occasional exceptions.

I was recently appalled when the FREE ( FREE Mind you! FREE!) Twitter content management account I set up with the company Round Team decided to charge me for said FREE account.  $30 is certainly not going to make or break anyone and is typically not something I’d get up in a fluff about; still, when said company charges you without prior notification and then refuses to even respond to multiple attempts at communication over the matter, my red flag alarm started going off.

So here’s my two cents worth…Think long and hard before using or continuing to use this company.  From what I’ve read on related forums, they have done this to MANY other FREE account holders without any prior notification and then, very often, freeze said accounts from retweeting anything.

.

Thanks for humouring me while I vent!

~Morgan~

Mystical and Magical

I have been asked, lately, by more than a few what I’ve been up to. Am I working on book two of the Dark Fey Trilogy? If so, when will I be publishing? What else is going on in this journey through publication? Do I have an agent yet?

So, I thought I would take a moment (or three, since we all know very well my level of verbosity makes brevity, although the soul of wit, far from brief when I am at the keyboard) to update any who find themselves interested. For the rest of you, terribly sorry, nothing to see here, move along 🙂

Since publishing Dark Fey The Reviled in January of this year into paperback format, I have enjoyed steady, if not earth-shattering, sales and increasing interest in the story. Shortly after being published, I was interviewed by our local newspaper and that article came out in March (found here: https://booknvolume.com/dark-fey-trilogy-2/lebanon-daily-news-interview) The article did a lot to increase awareness and helped generate a few additional sales. I’ve done some book signings at local libraries and have been building a Twitter following through regular tweets about the book. (If you do not utilize Twitter to promote your self-published books, I highly recommend starting. )

Hook-collage comp

I began working on book two of the trilogy: Dark Fey, Standing in Shadows shortly after publishing The Reviled and am now about 2/3 of the way through writing it. I am aiming for an October publication deadline and the only thing that might alter that plan would be my acquisition of a literary agent. Yes, I am currently actively seeking professional representation and to that end, a London based company contacted me in order to help with the process. With their aid, as well as another author’s aid (Laura Lee Anderson) I have written a query letter appropriate for submissions, written hooks and synopses for book one and two, written character sketches and descriptions of the Realm of Jyndari, and selected my first 15 agents to query.

Exciting is an understatement here!

Reviews-Comp1

So MUCH is happening! With over 6000 Twitter followers, word about Dark Fey has spread across the globe (something that still entirely amazes me!) and I routinely discover tweets about my book (and sometimes this blog) by people I’ve never even interacted with, but it goes to show what a little social networking can do. Dark Fey has been reviewed by Top 500 Reviewers (found here: http://tometender.blogspot.com/2015/05/dark-fey-reviled-by-cynthia-morgan.html?zx=4dd3dd9b542b22e8 ) as well as other authors (https://booknvolume.com/2015/05/19/unexpected-2 ). I’ve been featured on C E Lawrence / Carol Bugge’s blog (https://carolebugge.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/cynthia-morgan-author ) where, I have been informed by the blog administrator, the article received more attention, shares and reblogs than any other author they have ever featured!

To say I am Honoured and Astonished is another understatement!

Please believe me, I count you ALL as Blessings, for without YOU, without your continued support, readership, reblogs, retweets, shares and mentions, I would still be sitting at my laptop dreaming of the day. Yet today, because of YOU my dear friends (not to mention a bit of hard work that seemed like no work at all because I love every minute of it) I am Living the Dream. Blessings are flowing like gently falling rain and I am standing in the Monumentally Exquisite shower with more Amazement, Greater Appreciation than I can Ever Express, and Absolute JOY as I focus on what appears to be a Bright Shining Future.

Hello my Friends 🙂

I will be participating in #PitMad today on Twitter, an event where literary agents and publishers follow the #PitMad feed in search of new authors. I should very much appreciate any RTs of my #PitMad tweets today, IF you should feel so inclined. Careful though, please don’t Favourite these tweets, as favouriting is reserved for interested agents as a signal to me that they should like a query from me.

Again, IF you should feel inclined to pop on over to Twitter and RT a few of my #PitMad tweets it will be GREATLY Appreciated 🙂

Where to find me: https://twitter.com/MorganBC728

Thank You Ever So much 🙂

~Be The Miracle ~

Miracle

There are so many in this world in Need. There are so many who go to bed hungry or have no bed at all; so many that thirst for clean water where there is none. So many who ache for healing where no medicine is present; and so many who long for the touch of a tender embrace or a friendly smile. There are so many reasons we might choose to hide our eyes because we simply cannot bear what we see around us and there are even more reasons to be outraged about the atrocities, inhumanities and exploitations that happen every day.

Yet, for each one of those reasons, there IS a Miracle waiting. For the hungry child, there is a person with bread. For the villages without fresh, clean water, there is a program awaiting donations to make wells possible. For the countless animals suffering in factory farms, puppy mills, dog-fighting rings, or starving on the streets, there is a Choice waiting to be made; a Change that is Possible that can and will create a Miracle for those lives.

It’s easy to talk about. It’s even easier to say “It’s horrible, but what can one person like me really do?” It’s simpler to shake the head and turn away, but What Light Shall Shine if not My Own? What Change Shall Alter if not the One I Initiate? What Miracle Shall Bless if not the one I Earnestly Seek, Live for, Love for, and work to Create?

Miracles Happen Every Day because Miracles are not typically earth-shattering, moon-shaking, lightning bolts from the sky. Miracles are a simple things. Things like sharing an old blanket with someone who is cold and, possibly, homeless. Buying an extra cup of coffee and handing it to the person who is lingering near the line, but who might not be in line because they haven’t the few odd coins needed to buy a cup for themselves. Miracles are smiles shared with a stranger; holding the door open for the frazzled mom carrying her crying child into the busy store; leaving a small note of appreciation on a co-worker’s desk to anonymously encourage them on a hard day.

Miracles only take a moment, but they can change lives and they invariably create in the Giver a sense of being Inexpressibly Satisfied, though possibly hungry for more. There are many miracles that go untold every day, but in this dark dark world, where the news is filled with hate and fear and anger, isn’t it time to share a Miracle or two? Isn’t it time to tell a Hallmark worthy story rather than rehashing the hate and fear mongering already going on? Better yet, isn’t it time to ~Be The Miracle~?

So here is my Challenge, my idea for positive Change. If you care for the ones who suffer, if you detest the violence around us as much as I do, are you able and ready to Take One Step Toward Love?

Very shortly I shall be launching a website called ~Be The Miracle~ where we can all make a change, share Hope, Give Easily, and Support Each Other for doing the same. I can launch this website alone and I can promote it alone, but I cannot make it Work and it will not make a difference without You. So here’s fair warning, I am now and will be later asking for your help.

~Be The Miracle ~ will be a blog about all the Good that is going on around us and many ways you and I can help. I want to share stories of good will, charity, Random Acts of Kindness, ideas for Making a Difference and links to other organizations that are doing Good round the world. So if you have a story to share, an Idea that will Inspire or know of an organization that is doing something worthwhile, PLEASE let me know, send me the story so I will have plenty to post when I open ~Be The Miracle~. This new blog will also need shares on Facebook, Tweets on Twitter, Reblogs and Reposts to get the news out. Even if that is all you do, you can and will make a difference and be part of the Miracle. I ask, NOT to forward my own cause, because it shall be entirely non-profit, but to ~Be The Miracle~ for someone, or potentially many someones, who need it.

Are you ready to be part of The Miracle?

.

The Book and Volume of this Distracted Globe

The Book and Volume of This Distracted Globe

Or Book and Volume

Or BnV

Admittedly, I am an amateur.  Sure, I’ve heard about blogs for years, heard people talking about posts round the proverbial water cooler, but I’ve never actually read one.  Nope, not a single one, but I know how to spin a tale; I understand and appreciate the basics of English grammar (although I don’t always obey proper form and I do love a split infinitive) so I thought, why not?  Give it a go.  Have a bash, what’s to lose, really?  Bit of time.  After all, how hard could it be, sitting at my laptop listening to the sounds of the ocean, or a nice thundery rainstorm, or the ethereal music of Delirium all thanks to the wellspring we know as You Tube.  And even If the only person who finds said blog interesting, amusing or, if I’m lucky, entertaining, should be me than that’s just splendid; because if you can’t take a little time out of your day to amuse yourself, then perhaps you’re taking things a bit too seriously. (but I digress)

So here it is, entry one.  Or post number one.  Or what have you.  Now, for those of you who do not know me (yet) perhaps this would be an opportune moment to insert some sort of disclaimer, alert you to some of my comparatively annoying idiosyncrasies, and enlighten you to some of my peculiarities. (Most of these are one in the same by the way)  So here goes: first and foremost I’m a word enthusiast, aficionado, and devotee.  I love, admire, aspire to emulate and find myself positively piqued (by) Shakespeare, Dickens, Austin, Blake, Poe, or the like.  Odd, perchance, but I’m quite certain you’ve probably already ascertained this for yourself.  Yes, words….words….words.. (to quote the Master).  They fill me with inspiration, they bring me to tears or sometimes they make me LOL, ….they can often, also, bore me to bits (insert government or math related blather here).   So you may find yourself reading ten pages of paragraph long sentences brimming over with 6 syllable words just to find out that all I’ve really said is I don’t actually have anything to say.  Yeah, I’m good at that.

I should also probably warn you that, although I find a great many things interesting and will, most likely, remark on any number of them in a given post, I don’t have a particular objective in mind ( at this point anyway) for this blog.  Variety is the spice of life after all, so one never knows what I may sit down and prattle on about, at length, mayhap insipidly, but at the very least ( and dare I say, hopefully!) you won’t find yourself feeling preached at when you’ve reached the end.  That, you may be sure, is not my intention.

So there you are and here I am, two partners in time; one sharing, one gaining (little or nothing, but perhaps at least a smile…if I am successful) giving and receiving, for better or for worse….(yes, I see the direction this metaphorical segment is taking and I would break off, but where this is going illustrates so well another of my quirks, which is, though I hate to admit it, that I do tend to find meaning in even the simplest things)…so to get back to my metaphor… if you think about it, being a writer and a reader is rather like being in a relationship ( I was going to use the M word, but we barely know each other yet).  There’s good, there’s bad, there’s mutual intrigue, there are laughs and tears, arguments and betrayals of one form or another, but in the end, it’s generally worthwhile.  (there, that wasn’t too bad, was it?)

Ok, so you’ve read four paragraphs now and, although I’m only going on instinct, I’m thinking I should probably begin to wrap this up.  Not very educational, to be sure; not very interesting, conceivably, but maybe, just maybe, when you are at work tomorrow talking to your friends ( or if you haven’t any of those at your job ) your colleagues, or when you’re stuck in traffic on your way in or way home talking to one of the aforementioned on your cell, or when you’re chatting with some stranger you just met on the tube, you might just tell them about what you did last night.

How you were sitting at your computer/laptop/iPad/electronic devise of some sort, bored with the mundane, hum-drumness of Facebook and Twitter and you decided, (possibly against better judgment), to strike out on your own.  It was then that you happened upon the most… (insert adjective of your choice here) (yes, interactive blog….nifty, eh?)… blog you’ve ever read in your life and, although you’re not sure if it was about anything in particular, you did have a laugh once or twice, but it didn’t last long and, while it seemed inane at the time and, although you thought you’d never be interested in reading it again, you can’t stop thinking about it.  In fact, you can’t even say why.  What you can say is that the author might just possibly be off her hinges, one pie short of a picnic, not quite reaching warp speed; still, she had a way of writing that made you want to read more….maybe,…although you can’t be certain because there was only one entry.   And now you’re left with the most annoying set of circumstances imaginable because all you really want to know is, what the heck is she going to be nattering on about next?
