When All Hope fails and darkness closes in, Remember,
Even in the depths of the cosmos where distances are vast and no warmth survives,
When Faith falters and shadows rush in to snatch and steal, to cheat and lie, Remember,
Even in the deepest reaches of the heavens where time stretches out to eternity,
When Trust is shattered and fear settles like an icy mantel that freezes the heart and captures the Soul, Remember,
Even in the farthest reaches of space where infinity expands into the unfathomable,
Inside of You,
Morgan’s Musings is the name of the column I am now writing on a monthly basis for Fresh Lifestyle Magazine. Today my very first official article has been published, marking 2/9, (once again, but thats another post entirely!) as a Blessed day.
Light Endures was one of my highest ranked posts from BnV of all time, so it was not a difficult choice to share the verse for my first article, and then to add a short expansion of the verse, giving a sort of behind the scenes look into what Inspired the poem and why I wrote it, which you can Read in it’s entirety here.
Thank You ever so much, not only for sharing my excitement, but for sharing my journey. It has been so amazing, blossoming from not having a clue about what blogging is or how to do it, to sharing my very first poem, and then my very first BOOK, to this, now, today, my Very First Nationally Published article in my very own column in a well respected magazine.
OH the JOY is nearly Overwhelming!!!!!! I’m off to enjoy the radiant glow of the Light …that Ever Endures 🙂
As it is Thankful Thursday, it’s the best possible time to share my most recent news, for which I am more Thankful than I can properly express (although I shall certainly do my best!)
Booknvolume has been in existence now for close to four years (amazing as that may be!) In and of itself, that is truly something to be Thankful for; after all, without the past (nearly) four years, I would never have met any of YOU. Booknvolume has given me an extraordinary chance to share the quiet whisperings of my spirit, as well as the thunderous pounding of my heart, and the shifting shadows and light of my writings (most particularly Dark Fey).
Yet now a new and thrilling opportunity stands before me. A bold new horizon to explore, offering an ever expanding spectrum through which to share those same whisperings and musings. For you see, I am excited and perfectly delighted to share with you, that I have been invited to join the excellent staff of Fresh Lifestyle Magazine, a monthly periodical that seeks to Inspire, Educate and Encourage women and men to explore and Celebrate healthy living in all aspects of their lives.
I shall be joining a team of contributors that includes such notable individuals as Kimberly Perry: Creator of Fresh Chef Recipes, Television Host of Fresh Chef Minute, Nationally Acclaimed book Author, “Eat Clean for Life”, and Workshop and Convention Speaker; Dr. Sabrina Black: International speaker, author, counselor, and executive leadership life coach; Lauren Hicks-Jordan: President and Founder of Michigan Fashion Week; Deborah Johnson Taylor: Co-Founder, Executive Field Leader and Ambassador of the Faith Base Cause Initiative with MedEx Coast To Coast; and Kathi Perry: the Cleveland Director of Dec My Room, a Nonprofit Organization that seeks to enhance the lives of children and young adults who are being admitted into a hospital for a prolonged amount of time.
As you can well imagine, I am truly Honoured to be invited to add my talents to such a remarkable team! My contribution will be Morgan’s Musings, a monthly column dedicated to sharing the Inspirations of Love, Hope, Peace and Joy through poetry as well as my own unique brand of superfluous verbosity (that you have all come to know and love?). Dark Fey will also be featured in the magazine’s spotlight this month and will be listed among the magazine’s Favorite Things for an entire year!
To say I am Thankful is rather an understatement, but Thankful I am, and filled with humble appreciation for their confidence in me. I shall continue to strive to share the gentle whisperings of the Spirit and the poundings of my heart’s passions here on BnV as well as through Morgan’s Musings and hope with all my Thankful Heart that those who read the words I am guided to write shall find them as much a source of Blessing as I do.
A Thankful Heart is Open to Blessings
because it is closed to worry, doubt, and wailing.
A Thankful Heart is Filled with Love
because it empties itself of loathing, greed, and envy.
A Thankful Heart is Overflowing with Peace
because it does not Share itself with lies, distrust, and negativity.
A Thankful Heart Touches Others with its Blessings and Love
because it is Ever in the Presence of Love and Blessing.
A Thankful Heart Speaks in Kindness, Patience and Empowerment
because it does not Speak of hate, intolerance or to incapacitate.
A Thankful Heart Chooses its Path Each Day with Diligence and Joy
because it does not Concentrate on what it cannot do.
A Thankful Heart Walks in Hope, Love, Peace and Joy
because it Knows nothing else.
A Thankful Heart Shares its Purpose
because it is Incapable of Withholding All that Pours from its Abundant Profusion.
Embark upon Each New Day with a Thankful Heart, for Therein Abides the Abundance of Blessing.
I wanted to take a moment to say Thank You, Truly, Thank You from my Heart
This is not a post about me blowing my own horn or singing my own accolades, I promise. It’s me taking the very Important time to Realize and Appreciate all the blessings that have come my way in just one year.
A month or so back I posted an invitation to vote for Dark Fey The Reviled, which was up for commendation through Golden Box Books Publishing Reader’s Choice Award. Yesterday I was excited and thoroughly delighted to learn that, with YOUR help and Kind votes, The Reviled received that award and has been advanced to the finalist stage.
This award has truly made me Pause to take stock of all that has happened in this past year. So often Blessings come along and we take them for granted, as well as those persons who helped make them possible. So I wanted to take this opportunity to Thank YOU, as well as the Source of All Blessings, for every Amazing and Joyfully tearful moment I have enjoyed this year.
In March my life-long Dream of being published came true when I was accepted by Creativia Publications. Both book covers got a facelift and throughout the year sales have increased beyond my expectations.
To say that I am Thankful, Grateful, Appreciative and Overwhelmed would be an understatement proportionate to saying the Antarctic is a tropical climate, but not taking time to SAY Thank You would be even more grievous, at least in my book(nvolume).
It isn’t terribly surprising that at the onset of a New Year we might take some measure of time to review, re-assess and reorient ourselves and our direction. Neither is it shocking to set out a few goalposts for the upcoming year, although admittedly those ambitions are not always realized. In truth I am not one for making resolutions, because I tend to believe it’s far too easy to walk away from things we resolve to do simply because it’s the beginning of the year.
Setting Goals on the other hand has always been useful and attainable for me. Granted, it’s a fine distinction. It may all be a matter of the mind(set); nevertheless, what you find yourself Believing you are entirely capable of Achieving. I typically tend to set goals in Threes. ‘Now please don’t ask why, no one quite knows the reason’ (bonus points if you can tell me what book that quote is from!), but I find three manageable and once I accomplish all three, I’m always free to set three more! I’ve also found it very helpful to be specific when setting out objectives, because, after all, one can say ‘Oh I want to go the beach’, but that leaves a great deal of unknown territory to cover later on. What Beach? Where? And most importantly, Why? If I iron out the details straightaway, there are fewer stumbling blocks to impede progress, or at least, it seems that way.
So without further blathering (because we all know how well I do that), here are the goals I’ve set out for myself, which you are free to track and I shall (hopefully!) remember to provide updates on as the year rolls along.
Goal One – Priority Status – Complete Dark Fey: Breaking Into The Light
Completing the finale of the Dark Fey Trilogy is first and foremost in my thoughts. It has been in progress the entire year, though it is already longer than either of its predecessors and, with multiple story lines running at once, it has proven to be far more challenging as well. I am looking forward to the culmination of my message through this final installment of the Epic YA Fantasy
Goal Two – Poetry Book Project (Whispers In Verse)
Having mountains of poetry from BnV, it seems inevitable that it should end up in a book (or seven). I’ve already decided on the categories: Poems of Peace, Quiet, Tranquility; Poems of Love and Longing; Poems of Inspiration and Belief; Poems of Nature; and Dark Poetry (yes I actually a some of that too!) I’ve even designed the cover, as you can see, and created the description for the first of the series “Whispers in Verse”.
Goal Three – Historical Fiction Project (The Letter)
Life for Adoralysse had always been harrowing, scarred by loss and cruelty. Love and Trust were words she knew nothing of; only pain and sorrow filled her days until one snowy night when she was strong enough to escape her captivity.
Life for Lord Braden Lowerey of Chadlington Park had always been comfortable. Replete with more luxuries than he could ever want or need, his world was well-ordered, governable, and ruled by his benevolent nature. Although he trusted no one and felt not a shred of romantic love for any, philanthropy was easy for him. It provided a means of utilizing his millions while it kept him safely disconnected. Until he discovered an unconscious beauty lying in the snow at the entrance to his expansive estate.
In that moment, his compassion leads him to make unanticipated decisions that draw him under the scrutiny of his peers and puts his reputation in jeopardy. Her past is shrouded in mystery and her future a shadow of mistrust and fear; yet her welfare becomes his only concern and her happiness his sole desire.
But how will two hearts that know neither Trust nor Love open to either?
What do you think? Sounds exciting to me, if nothing else. Now, Go ahead…set a few goals for yourself. You might be pleasantly surprised come Dec 31st in all you have achieved!
~Blessings of Creativity and a Wealth of Words to all of you!
Life is a Beautiful, Beguiling thing. It lies quiet, waiting for us to open ourselves to our calling; then it fills our world. Often, it fills to overflowing, which is a Blessing to Ever be Thankful for; yet in the world of writing it also often creates a conundrum. That being, I love to write, but now I have so many other things going on, I don’t have time to write and I really need to write!
Oh Dear….what to do, what to do? Well, in my mind the solution is to Invite YOU to Share your gift(s) of writing and creativity through Booknvolume. Simple, right? (Well, potentially.)
So here it is, my very first Official Invitation to YOU my fellow authors, writers, bloggers, photographers (Yes you too!) and artists, to Share your Talent through the pages of BnV via Guest Blogging. Interested? Intrigued? (even morbidly curious?) Then do please read on, Oh Intrepid One, and we shall lay some preliminary ground work.
First and most importantly to me is that Booknvolume is a PG-13 Blog, so any posts, poems, photographs, etc., must pass that guideline, Please. You are free to choose whatever topic you find appealing and you may share anything from poetry to flash fiction, short stories, artwork, photography, recipes, Inspirational Quotes, Spirituality, Book Reviews, Author Interviews, Character Sketches….in other words, I’m not going to restrict you as long as you follow the PG-13 Golden Rule. 🙂
Secondly, Guest Writer dates will mainly be weekends and holidays (until I’ve caught up with writing ..Dark Fey, Breaking Into The Light dontcha know!).
Thirdly, dates will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are interested, please contact me via the form below and we can iron out the relative details.
Finally, (though it really probably doesn’t need to be said), Guest Writers/Bloggers are on a voluntary basis. No compensation other than my Gratitude and the Appreciation of my/our followers will be provided.
Still here? Still fascinated? Great (Mr Spock), here’s the contact form:
(IF you have a pop-up blocker running, the form may not appear)
Thank You so much for all your support and for your interest in adding YOUR Voice to Booknvolume. I look forward to sharing your talent with my readers and Very Much Appreciate your willingness to Help a fellow writer in need.
Hello my Friends 🙂 Since it’s officially Throwback Thursday, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share a few re-runs and, perhaps, explain a bit about Booknvolume (or, if you’re in a hurry, BnV) After all, I have 21 separate categories, which is enough to make anyone’s head spin (including Mine occassionally!) SO below you will find a brief description of each category and an example of that type of post, with a link to the full post, should you find yourself keenly interested to read more…
Most importantly, I’d like to say Thank You, because without YOU, none of this would ever have happened! It’s rather like the old adage…If a tree falls in the woods and noone is around to hear it, does it make a noise? Likewise I might say: If a Blogger posts into the Internet Void and noone visits, is it really a blog?
Just me musing, really….anyhoo…here we go:
About Me (since you Insist) – Home to my ABOUT info…which I may add to now and then, just for fun.
The Book and Volume of This Distracted Globe
Or Book and Volume
Admittedly, I am an amateur. Sure, I’ve heard about blogs for years, heard people talking about posts round the proverbial water cooler, but I’ve never actually read one. Nope, not a single one, but I know how to spin a tale; I understand and appreciate the basics of English grammar (although I don’t always obey proper form and I do love a split infinitive) so I thought, why not? Give it a go. Have a bash, what’s to lose, really? Bit of time. After all, how hard could it be, sitting at my laptop listening to the sounds of the ocean, or a nice thundery rainstorm, or the ethereal music of Delirium all thanks to the wellspring we know as You Tube. And even If the only person who finds said blog interesting, amusing or, if I’m lucky, entertaining, should be me than that’s just splendid; because if you can’t take a little time out of your day to amuse yourself, then perhaps you’re taking things a bit too seriously. (but I digress)
Awards – Um, yes. Awards given to me for blogging….don’t really want to boast … (Blush) shall we move along? 🙂
Collaborations- Collaborations I’ve done with other skilled poets &/or photographers.
Writing is an Inspiration that should be shared. At least, this is my view. I have enjoyed sharing the creative process with quite a few very talented and inspiring people and would love to share that experience with you as well. If you should like to write with me, please comment back to me. We can collaborate on a poem, short story, interview each other, do a movie review, or select an image and each write something about it just to see where our creative inspirations lead us. Let’s get together and share the Joy of Writing.
Here are the fine artists with whom I’ve collaborated so far:
Dark Fey – Posts, Previews and Information pertaining to “Dark Fey”,my fantasy triology in progress.
Wondering if you might like Dark Fey? I’ve decided to GIVE you an Entire Chapter to decide. And not just any Chapter, The Pinnacle Chapter; the one I wrote first; the one around which the rest of the story is built. So pour yourself a beverage, sit back in a quiet room (or the local pub, depending) and Enjoy this Fantasy Freebie. 🙂 (And for those of you who’ve already read this…or the entire book, MANY MANY thank Yous!!)
The forests of Jyndari were vast and Hwyndarin was set nearly in the heart of the ancient woodland: with good reason. On the coast, storms and high winds could sweep in from the oceans or roll off the heights of the Trynnari Mountains and threaten both the stability of essential Light and the equally indispensable treasures of learning collected through the ages, but deep in the center of the primordial forest storms were seldom a threat or even a consideration. Hwyndarin had been chosen millennia ago as the seat of all learning and artistry for this especial reason, for here the precious tomes from thousands of years of wisdom could be housed safely and here the artisan’s treasures could be protected. Yet infrequently, a significantly powerful tempest would press back the borders of the forest and shatter the tranquility of that peaceful village.
My coworkers and I went for lunch one bright day…nothing special, just a little spot nearby that has really good pork barbeque sandwiches ( which is a specialty in our part of the country and not at all what you might expect since no BBQ sauce is involved)….and ice cream! Not necessarily a great combo, but when you have a few hours to kill…
Wordless Wednesday-ssshhhhhh Nothing to say…the pictures say it all, see 🙂
(You understand, I know you do…)

I started BookChat in June 2013 to share the books I love reading….
I wanted to stop by to say that I will be out of commission for a short time. On top of trying to finish up Dark Fey, Standing in Shadows, I am in the process of moving; my job situation is changing, and, as if that were not enough, I am dealing with the reminder that is has been an entire year since the untimely passing of my Mother and that sorrow lingers. Given all of these “stressors”, I have decided to take a break from some of my social media for a short time.
I truly appreciate your support and kindness and look forward to renewing my full attention to the blog soon. Many Many Blessings my Friends.
I had to take a moment out of my day to offer what seems to me to be an entirely insignificant, yet wholly Heartfelt THANK YOU!!!! Today I reached a milestone I truly never imagined when I began this blog a smidgen over 2 years ago. I want to express how astonished I still am, how BLESSED I feel and how Immensely, Enormously, Vastly I Appreciate each and every one of you, but how precisely does one express a sensation that is as close to inexpressible and unfathomable as I have ever experienced? Because Today, in spite of my abundantly verbose inclinations (or perhaps because of them) I not only surpassed 100,000 views, but tipped the scales to followers.
As I sit staring at the stats in mind-numbing silence, be Absolutely CERTAIN, YOU are the ones who have made this possible and I am entirely aware of it.
