The Soft and Gentle Tumblings
Of the Notions of my Mind,
Reel in four directions, yet
Never leave me far behind,
As the Whirling of the Universe
Compound and rend asunder,
I am Ever left Considering
The Paradox of Wonder.
How is it that You Love Me,
Beyond my every failing?
How Great is the Ocean’s Tide,
And the Chasms of Sky, wherein I’m Sailing.
How Does the very Echo
Of my Heart Reach into my Spirit?
How Long will Love Ask me Wait
Before the Beloved Twin Shall Hear it?
How Vast are the Depths
Of the Wonders of Your Love!
How Gentle is Your Beauty,
Like the Mourning Song of the Dove.
How did I miss the Litany of Angels
Who broke the Heavenly Choir’s Score
To Sing to Me, Above the Chaos,
And Lift me from the floor?
When will Space and Time Unravel
And Unwind into the Night?
Will I Stand Beside You then,
Gazing at the Awe Inspiring Sight?
Diligence and Ruthlessness
Seem Keys to Most Successes,
But Kindness and the Grace of Love
Always Inspire Second Guesses.
Oh How the Heart Ever beats True
When facing the Pulse of Mortal Clocks!
Oh How my Thoughts grasp at Your Marvels
In the Endless Paradox!

Speak not in chide or rude, unkind dispute
That Breaks the Delicate Blush of this Emotion,
But Let Thy Words Stand Bold in Brave Repute,
Broad and Sweeping, As Majestic as Any Ocean.
For while Thy Words of Grace do Speak of Love,
And While Thy Love dost Speak to Grace Thy Lips,
The Heaven’s Host of Angels, High Above,
Do Bend to Hear Sweet Music as it Slips
From the Exquisite Baritone of Thy voice,
In Speaking or in Singing, Blessed Symphony
That Permits me no Alternative, nor other Choice,
But to Pause my pulse and breath to better Hear Thee.
Thy Voice that shakes my Heart as a Trembling Dove,
Like Thunderous Morning Ignites the Passion of my Love.

When the Prism Breaks
And Shatters all Around
The Lingering Glimmer that it Lent
Dissipates without a Sound,
Yet Tide and Time Prevail
Against the Hurricane of Life,
Where Angels Bow in Reverence
Uplifting Pain and Strife.
Capture what is Left Behind
By Standing in the Swale
And When the Lantern Light Abates,
In Grace Stand Strong,
Not Weak or Frail!

Upon the Dark and Scattered Shadows
Of Doubt and Fear, Unbidden, Unchecked,
Sits a Lowly Angel, Waiting,
For Robes of Finest Silks, Bedecked
With Heaven’s Hope and Immortal Light,
To Wipe Away Each Despairing Tear,
Cast Adrift Upon a Sea of Souls
Where Misery Reaches Year after Year.
Upon this Bastion of Disappointment
She lurks with downcast eyes,
Longing in her Heart of Hearts
For Love that Releases O’er Burdened Sighs,
Yet Never does she lift her Gaze,
Nor Stretches out her Trembling Hand,
But Weeps in Melancholic Bliss,
Prisoner to a self-made land
Of hollow promises and subterfuge,
Painted faces of greed and lust,
And never does she Ask,
For Love to Heal her Shattered Trust.

In the Clouds as the Sun Shall Rise
Into the Breeze, my Spirit Flies,
Like a Falcon, Sharp and Steep,
Hovering O’er the Secrets I Keep,
Past the Winsome Moon as she Smiles,
Through the Rainbow as she Beguiles,
My Spirit Dances Upon the Skies,
Leaving me Breathless with giddy Sighs,
As Up into the Clear Cosmos I Float,
Where Heaven’s Angels Wait and Dote
Upon my Every Care, Touching with Joy,
Gentle Wisdom to Employ
While I Dream of Flying Free
And My Spirit Releases the Turmoil in Me.

Could Heaven possibly Sound Like This?
Do Angels Sigh in such Seraphic Bliss?
Does this Music Pour Into the Light,
Shimmering in the Brightest of the Bright?
Might this Intoxicating, Liquescent Song,
Bring Tears to the Mighty Heavenly Throng
As it Brings to me in the Deepest obscurity,
A Blazing, Rapturous Expression of Purity
Lifting my Spirit from the deepest chasm,
Into Surrender I scarce can Fathom.
O Glorious, Compelling, Crescendo of Sound,
In Your Presence, Perfection is Found!

With Glints of Moonlight upon the Wall,
A Cradle of Elegant Starlight, Glistens,
Watchful Heartbeats as they Fall,
Where Angels Pause as Faith Listens.
Tender in the Midnight Calm
Of Jocund Candleglow a-shimmer,
Softly, now, in Whispered Balm,
While doubt and fear grow dimmer.
The Pulsing of Celestial Wonder,
Stealing from Infinity so Far,
Beckons my Gaze like Joyous Thunder,
Or the Fleetly Falling Brittle Star.
Yet in Comparison of Day to Night,
Untold the Secrets Tending,
Luster fades as Day Breaks so Bright,
And Passion’s Ministrations, Bending.
Arch Your Gilded Wings, Oh Heaven,
Spread Your Wisdom like the Deepest Sea,
Food of Immortality, Sweetly Leaven,
Quietly Imparting Harmony.

When Time Pauses to turn the page,
Upon this Bleak, forgotten Stage
Like Light Glimmering from Afar
A Bright and Incandescent Star
Stretching from the Depths of Pain
To Shower down, like Glittering Rain
And I Stand, Apart, Alone, Again
Watching Angels as they Send
Blessings to Touch a Thousand Hearts,
Yet Waiting for You, My Soul Apart,
Then Time Gutters like the Candle, Burning,
Smoke and Shadows in Lessons, Learning,
Yet Hope Blazes on, Brazen and True,
Ever, Always, With my Gaze Upon You.

Sweet and Mild,
Born in Humility,
Not in Glory,
While Splendor Bends,
Your Birth Mends,
Setting Men Free,
Kings and Rulers Beguiled,
While Wise Men Seek
Through the Dark Night, Bleak.
In a Manger Lowly,
This Precious Child, Holy.

From Angelic Choirs Singing,
Hope and Peace to All Mankind,
A Precious Babe is Bringing.
Seek the Child, Faithfully,
In Lowly Manger Sleeping,
Where Cattle, Sheep and Donkey,
Humble Guard, Quiet are Keeping.

OH that this Meek Soul that Speaks not into darkness,
Nor Stands on mountains Singing,
Should Merit Angels from on High Come Unto me,
Sweet Messages Bringing,
This Heart which Follows Faithfully, Giving as I Ought,
Yet Seeking not
Further from Thy Side,
Where in Thy Mercy I Abide,
While Holy Angels Glorify the Humility of my Heart,
This Precious Miracle, Left Unto me To Start,
And Blessed in Posterity Shall I Ever Be,

(Let me begin by saying Sorry, this is rather lengthy….my apologies) (But I’ve been warning you for months that I can go on and on and on, so sit back and relax)
Halloween is rapidly approaching, and whether you celebrate this season of ghoulish fun and ghostly frights or whether you abstain, ghouls and ghosts are a difficult topic to avoid this time of year. Ghost stories abound, as do tales of shadowy grave yards, mummies, skeletons, werewolves, vampires and other denizens of darkness. It’s a creepy season, really, I don’t think anyone can argue that point, but it always get me thinking, wondering, about the inescapable question: Do Ghosts Really exist?
Before I plunge into a ten page dissertation on the psychological and metaphysical possibilities of life beyond the grave, perhaps this would be the perfect time to insert a disclaimer. Something simple, to be sure, just to point out that my views are my own and they have by no means been proven (either right or wrong); however, since I have an opinion, I should think this is the best time of the year to share it. (so here I go…if you are an adamant skeptic, the exit is that-a way….)
Ghosts, Spirits, Specters, Apparitions. There are as many names for the phenomenon as there are notions about what they are, why they are, how they are and even where they are. Where do they come from? Why do they come at all? What do they want? How can they be possible? The questions are boundless, but one thing is certain, one thing alone, and that is that no one knows for sure.
Charles Dickens had an interesting notion. As Jacob Marley so eloquently put it: “It is required of every man that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellow men and travel far and wide and If that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death! It is doomed to wander through the world! Oh, woe is me! And witness what it cannot share but MIGHT HAVE SHARED on Earth and turned to happiness!” Possible…yes.
William Shakespeare also had ideas about the afterlife. The Ghost of Hamlet’s Father had an equally harrowing insight to share:
“I am thy father’s spirit,
Doomed for a certain term to walk the night,
And for the day confined to fast in fires,
Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature
Are burnt and purged away. But that I am forbid
To tell the secrets of my prison house,
I could a tale unfold whose lightest word
Would harrow up thy soul”
Also, entirely possible.
A more modern view, shared by many, suggests that ghosts remain, trapped in this plane of existence because they have something left to do, some message left to give, or some purpose yet to accomplish. These views are expressed in entertaining, as well as frightening, fashion in such movies as “Ghost town” with Ricky Gervais and “The Sixth Sense” with Haley Joel Osment, but who’s to say if any of these views are correct.
Being a fairly regular watcher of the television shows Ghost Adventures and Most Haunted, I can say this for certain: I do not believe ghosts show up and respond to stimuli on cue for the sake of the camera and I do not believe they really care whether we understand or accept their existence as valid or not.
Having said all that, here is what I do believe, for what it is worth. I believe in Angels as well as Demons, and I believe both regularly visit and interact with the human race on a variety of levels for many different reasons. I believe that some ghosts/spirits come and go from this plane in visitation, for lack of a better term, perhaps simply to visit people and/or places they’ve loved during their lifetimes. I believe that ghosts can be seen, heard, felt, and interacted with under the right conditions, or perhaps, the wrong conditions, given your point of view. I also believe they are, potentially, very dangerous.
Of course they are. People are dangerous, aren’t they? And there are “good” people and “bad” people, people who build others up, bolster their faith, people who are charitable, generous, kind, loving, caring, devoted, helpful, while there are those who are not. There are those who are cruel, unkind, self-serving, destructive, malicious of intent and purpose, and twisted so why shouldn’t there be “good” and “bad” spirits if spirits are, simply, people who are lingering here on this plane? Consequently, messing about with them can be, potentially, treacherous.
Having said as much, and knowing as much, I did, in fact, participate in a “ghost hunt” round about a year ago and it was as exhilarating as it was frightening, so I do understand the “draw”. A small group of us went with a local ghost hunting guide to two different locations in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with EVP digital recorders, EMF meters, and digital cameras at the ready and I was able to capture some very interesting, dare I say even astonishing, images. (shared below)
It was dark, it was quiet, it had recently rained so, although it was not dripping wet, it was also neither dusty nor dry and there were only the five of us. I will, of course, say that once you start thinking you are going to see something or experience something, you are, after all, likely to, if only through your imagination; however, all five of us did witness an odd flash of red light at the same time. Given that we were out in the middle of the woods with no roads or other people nearby and no one was, at that moment, using a phone or other digital device, it was peculiar and unexplained. Also, oddly, my camera was the only one out of all five that did not have its battery drained of energy within minutes of arriving on site.
I captured many orbs, most of which can be written off as dust, pollen or water particles in the atmosphere, but some were so bright and showed up in one frame, but not in the next, that they beg to be puzzled over further. But the most shocking (to me) and unexplained images I captured were reddish, cloudy, vaporous anomalies (for lack of any better description) which appeared only in the pictures I took, but could not be seen by any of us. We heard no voices, we saw no insidious specters dragging chains, and no one ended up spewing green stuff from their mouths while shouting obscenities. (thank heaven!)
Nevertheless, it was amazing and it left me questioning and questing for more. Will I ever go on another “hunt”? More than likely. Do I believe I experienced the super-natural, paranormal, other side? Yes, I do. Does that mean that I can offer valid proof of something that has perplexed mankind since the dawn of time and reason? Nope. But for what it’s worth, here’s a few images of what we experienced. Feel free to formulate your own opinions and, of course, Happy Halloween.
These photos were also taken 3 seconds apart. I moved ever so slightly to one side, but still… Orb in one. No Orb in the other.
These three photos were taken one right after the other. The first shows nothing. The second shows the anomaly I spoke of along with a red glowing orb. The third shows the same two anomalies a few seconds later, having moved from their original location, presumably, following me.
