All that You Are

You are the Shrine my Heart runs to when She is Lonely, Weak or Frail,

You are the Temple in which I kneel when my Sorrow forces me to Wail,

You are the Covenant Never to be Broken

The Promise my Soul Knows, Though it has never been Spoken,

You are my Fortress,

My Rock,

Firm Foundation,

You are the Joy in my Life’s Jubilation.

You are the Morning that gently wakens me

You are the soft ripple in the field’s Grassy Sea,

You are the Lark, Singing Sweet and Fair,

You are Love, Waiting with Patience Beyond Compare.

You are the Light in my Darkness of Night

In my World of Wrong,

You are Truth.

You are Light!

He is Always There

In the silent night, He is there
In the midst of thunder, He is there
In the cold north wind, He is there
In the darkest cave, He is there

In the loneliest dungeon
In the lion’s den
In the fiery furnace
He is always there

On the threshing floor
On the mountaintop
On the gathering clouds
He is always there

He is in the bringing bush
He is in the fire by night
He is in the cloud by day
He is always there

When trouble comes
When none stands with you
When darkness is all about
He is right there beside you

Bow your head
Fall to your knees in His presence
Let Him lift you up
Let Him be your strength

He will always be with you
He will never leave you
He is right there beside you
He is always there

I would love to have you stop by my poetry site at  The Psalmist

When Storm Clouds Gather (#guestblogger)

18 Saturday Feb 2017

christianity, God, Guest Bloggers, Help, spirituality, Storms

I love a good storm. I love watching the clouds roll in from a distance and seeing the lightning flashing, and waiting for the thunder to roll.  I love seeing them build as they move closer, higher and higher.  I love the pre-rain smell that fills the air when a thunderstorm gets near.  And then they are here, and the air is filled with rain and lightning and thunder – a magnificent display of God’s power.  It is one of the most awesome things in all of nature.

When I look at clouds, I think about the storms that can come into our lives.  They come in all shapes and sizes and can affect us in so many different ways.  Sometimes, we can see the storm directly ahead of us, heading our way, but we cannot see a different road to take:

huge-potential-tornado

As we listen to the voice of God in these situations, He may tell us to stay on the straigh road, and not turn to the right or to the left.  The Israelites were told this as they went through the desert (Num 20:7), or by Jesus in the New Testament (Matt 7:14).  There are times that God knows the battle is before you and He wants you to have faith in Him to see you through.  These times are precious because they really test our faith.  Our inclination is to avoid the storm at all costs.  It looks dangerous.  But if we listen to God’s voice and trust in His strength to get us through, the blessing that is one the other side is well worth it.

Then there are times that storm looms over us.  It is big, and ominous, and scary.  The clouds surrounding the storm hide its intensity, but you can see danger in their formation.  You do not know exactly what is going to happen, you just know this storm, this trial, is going to hit at any time:

marshmellow-clouds-behiind-farmhouse

You face it with courage and an unmoving faith in God, like a tree planted by the water (Psalm 1:3).  A tree relies on the water for its sustenance and strength.  It sends those roots down deep to gather the water and feed the rest of the tree.  When it is close to the water. It does not worry where that supply will come from, and it will not be moved from that spot.  We need to be like that tree, relying on God to give us the strength to go through the storm, not to avoid it.  The storm is right there, ready to burst, and we praise Him regardless, because we know by faith He will see is through.  He knows what the storm will bring, and He is more than able to help us get to the other side, where the blessings flow.

There are storms that make a lot of noise way off in the distance.  They look like a danger, and we start to worry long before they get near us.  And we hear the thunder rumble, and people tell us we are in for a battle when the storm gets here.  The storm, or trial, looks frightening, and could be devastating when it arrives:

wall-of-lightniing

We are told not to fear, or worry about tomorrow (Matt 6:34).  God holds all our tomorrows.  Only He knows what the next hour will bring.  The storm could dissipate and never reach you.  I have watched thunder storms stop on a dime and give out.   I have also seen them part and go around on all sides.  We never know.  So, when that storm is approaching, pray.  Ask God to stop the storm, or to move the storm, that is coming toward your life.  He stilled the waves and the wind (Mark 5:35-41), and He can calm your storm before it even gets to you.  Just ask.

Then there are the storms of life that affect your friends, your family, your neighbors, and, yes, your enemies.  They loom off in the distance and all you can see is the looming clouds.  You are not sure who they are affecting, or what the intensity is, but you know there is a storm over their lives, ether because they told you, or you see the signs of a storms:

night-lightning-over-the-city

This is a time to pray.  We are called to be intercessors (Ezek 22:30-31. Eph 6:18).  This is the highest calling I believe.  To be a prayer warrior for God is a blessing to so many people often those we do not know.  If we are listening to the Spirit, He will tell us people who need prayer throughout our day.  Do you ever have names pop in your head in the middle of the day?  This is the Holy Spirt prompting you to pray for them.  Never, ever doubt that.  How should you pray?  The bible tells us the Holy Spirit will give us the words as groanings that cannot be uttered (Rom 8:26).  Allow God to work through you, and just open yourself up to pray.  He will help you.

And on the other side of that storm is always a blessing.  When we go through trials of faith, we grow in our walk with the Lord.  We become stronger, ready to face bigger trials.  But we also are ready to help others face theirs.  We are more prepared to help someone else who is going through the same storm in their lives.  These storms are meant for our growth, not out harm.  But if we try to get through them on our own, they will probably cause harm.  Either that or we will not make it through, and give up.  If that happens, we will most likely have to face the same storm again.  It is so important we rely on God’s strength to help us through.  He will never fail us.  And we will see the blessing when the storm passes.

truth

by Susan Irene Fox

When listening to my Father’s call

the world attempts to use disguise

to lead me into my downfall

when lies are truth and truth are lies.

The Gospels lift me up to soar,

and daily mind and heart restore.

The words of Jesus free my thoughts

and bring me back to God’s embrace

to focus on the things I ought;

on love, compassion and His grace.

He came not to condemn but save

and all my sins expunged, forgave.

Abiding in the Spirit shows

me how to be and how to live.

Christ’s light from Living Water flows;

this fact holds no alternative.

The truth from fruit’s essential seeds

is God’s great source from which He feeds.

Because I sustain nourishment

from my Savior’s bread of life,

His voice of love is sweet assent

which melts and calms the daily strife.

God always is my Number One;

His wisdom never is outdone.

So say your truth, but I know His.

I am to open heart and hands,

to welcome all, and more than this;

to care for orphans, widows and

to reconcile the world, employ

God’s grace and wisdom, love and joy.

“I guarantee this truth: every believer has eternal life. I am the bread of life.” (John 6:47-48)

“For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who cares for the truth hears my voice.” Pilate asked him, “What is truth?” (John 18:37-38)

And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

A Guest Post

by Susan Irene Fox

Your fragrant scent is like a rose,

Perfume which, when inhaled, does flow

Throughout each cell to calm and ease;

Your Spirit lifts with harmonies.

Each bird delivers highs and lows,

the notes your whisper tells in prose.

Your voice delivers sweet mercies,

Your Spirit lifts with harmonies.

Delicious taste of berries sows

a hunger for the wisdom those

red words of Jesus’ scripture pleas;

Your Spirit lifts with harmonies.

Your touch upon my heart bestows

the softest love I’ll ever know

and coupled with your grace agrees

Your Spirit lifts with harmonies.

The sunrise wakens me and shows

just why it’s You I finally chose;

and glad I am you’ve chosen me,

Your Spirit lifts with harmonies.

I Know He Will (#guestblogger)

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
I know He will. I know He will.
He’ll keep me through the trial
He’ll keep me thorough the storm
He’ll keep me where I’m safe
He’ll keep me in His arms
I know He will. I know He will

He will because He promised
He will because He cares
He will because He loves me
He died my sin to bear
He will because He purchased my salvation on that tree
And His will became mine the first day I believed

If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
I know He will I know He will
He will prepare a mansion
He will wipe away my tears
He will take away my sorrow
And He’s coming back for me
I know He will. I know He will

He will because He promised
He will because He cares
He will because He loves me
He rose up from the grave
He will because He lives to give eternal life to me
And His will became mine the first day I believed

What He promised, He will do
He can never tell a lie
What He wrote remains forever
And His love will never die
I will stand upon his word
And I will not be denied

He will because He promised
He will because He cares
He will because He loves me
He died my sis to bear
He will because He purchased my salvation on that tree
And His will became mine the first day I believe

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
I know He will. I know He will

As Children See (guest blogger)

children, Christ, crayons, Freedom, God, Grace, Jesus, Love, Mercy, Prayer, Purity, reconcile

crayons

Children see color as crayons,

beautiful art which represents

oceans, flowers, sunsets and dawns;

hues of people, this sight ascends.

Were we to see as children see

before the influence of hate

our hearts and minds would remain free

as we were born and was innate.

We’ve lost the purity of sight

and turned our backs on God’s great gift;

but if we reach out to the Light

He once again our souls will lift.

His love and grace and mercy still

are in our reach; do not despair.

He lives within us, that’s the thrill;

He always hears our silent prayer.

So wipe your tears, and once again

Remember you’re His precious child.

See others as your godly friends

Whom Christ has also reconciled.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left. (Matthew 19:13-15)

The Great Divide (#Guest Blogger)

God, Humility, Joy, Love, Spirit, Unity

Somehow, the words to this song remind me of our relationship with God.

Humbling, joyous, unifying.

I never knew I lost you till I found you
And I never guessed how close you were to me
And now I wanna throw my arms around you
Tell a thousand tales that will astound you
Everything about you tells me this was meant to be, don’t you see

I’m on your side
Let’s take this ride
And together we’re facing the world
Doing things nobody’s done before
And the great divide
Doesn’t seem so wide anymore

I can’t recall what life was like without you
Now it feels as though we’ve never been apart
Tell me every tiny thing about you
Anything you’ll say I’ll never doubt you
We’re meant to be together I can feel it in my heart
It’s just the start

I’m on your side
Let’s take this ride
And together we’re facing the world
Doing things nobody’s done before
And the great divide
Doesn’t seem so wide

And if you’ll be there beside me when I falter
(You’ll be there beside me when I falter)
Then whatever comes I know we’ll take it all in stride
(Take it all in stride)
I’m on your side

The great divide
Doesn’t seem so wide

I’m on your side
Let’s take this ride
And together we’re facing the world
Doing things nobody’s done before
And the great divide
Doesn’t seem so wide anymore

Do it Anyway

Choices, Christian poetry, Faith, God, Light, Love, Prayer, Spirit, Struggle

The daily struggles that we feel

To keep our faith with Jesus real

To honor God, obey His call

Means we must offer love to all so all will heal.

When speaking to our God in prayer

We often talk of what is fair

We sense a daily push and pull

Yet His love cannot fill us full; we must repair.

Our choice to walk with Him can free

Or keep us locked in chains, you see

We love our friends and enemies

Or walk away, do what we please; our destiny?

He said it best. “The world will know

Us by our love.” Yes, we must show

His heart, His light, though not our trait.

Abide in God, the Spirit’s weight through us will glow.

by Susan Irene Fox

(Chorus to song) God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good
When I pray it doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

Settling into my own skin,

God has given me the ability

to smile at the person in the mirror,

loving and accepting exactly who I am.

As I look back at who I’ve been

and reflect on how and what I used to see,

my perspective was skewed, dark; I ignored

the signs: the love, the grace, the comfort from the Lamb.

Yet once I opened to His heart within,

I saw with Jesus’ eyes, I became free.

His love allowed me to open the door

to view myself and others through His love, His plan.

~          ~          ~          ~          ~

I see Him now inside my eyes

His beauty shines from my mirror back to me

As does His character; it is His peace I carry, not mine.

I breathe deeply, fully, accepting His unconditional love.

When I rest in Him, employ His eyes

There remains no human I despise.

We are all His flesh; we are jars of His clay

Shaped and made to display

God’s full hope and grace; God’s hope and grace.

Though we may use words to slight and shame,

Underneath we are flesh, blood and frame.

We are born with tongues to accept and uplift

Endowed from Him a gift:

God’s full hope and grace; God’s hope and grace.

As we look outside ourselves this morn’

Can we see all those who too were born

As branches of the selfsame tree, bearing fruit?

Our hearts cannot dispute

God’s full hope and grace; God’s hope and grace.

This hope and grace, and yes His love

Set gently down from His heart above

Like starlings alight on each branch of a tree.

A weightless yoke, humbly

God’s full hope and grace; God’s hope and grace.

Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Put My yoke upon your shoulders—it might appear heavy at first, but it is perfectly fitted to your curves. Learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. When you are yoked to Me, your weary souls will find rest. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Thank you to Sharon Knight at SunEarthSky for allowing me to share her beautiful photograph, starlings roosting in a tree.
