I have something lovely to shareย ๐ ๐
Iโm delighted to be featured by Influential Women as a writer, artist, and creator of Peace is an Action. Seeing my story brought together has given me a moment to pause and appreciate my journey.
It also prompted a question: What does being an influential woman mean to me?
This article is based around that question.
What does it mean to be an influential woman? For author, artist, and Peace is an Action creator Morgan C. Morgan, influence begins in everyday life: how we treat people, how consistently we practice our values, and how we help others recognize their own possibilities.
Following her recognition by Influential Women, Morgan reflects on the lived experience behind her work and her hope of connecting with others through a shared commitment to compassion.
What does influence mean to you personally?
To me, being someone of influence means that my behavior is consistent with my message. I hope people can recognize what I stand for through the way I live and the way I treat them.
If I speak about peace, kindness, and compassion, I want those qualities to be present in my everyday actions. Influence carries a responsibility to practice what we encourage in others, even in small moments when nobody is paying particular attention.
This recognition also offers an opportunity to connect with like-minded individualsโto build bridges between our efforts to empower others and make the world a better place.
What part of your journey do you hope another woman might recognize herself in?
I take pride in being an ordinary person. My knowledge and experience have grown through more than fifty years of everyday living: learning, working, creating, making mistakes, and beginning again.
I hope that makes me approachable. I want another woman to see something of herself in my story and feel comfortable connecting with me.
There is value in what we learn through living. The experiences we sometimes dismiss as ordinary can give us understanding, perspective, and something useful to share. I hope my journey encourages other women to recognize that value in themselves.
What does living your message look like in an ordinary moment?
For me, it begins with conscious gratitude. Each morning, I take a few moments to appreciate the everyday things Iโm blessed with: my health, my loved ones, a safe home and community, clean water, and food. These are basic necessities, but they are also blessings that not everyone has.
Then I try to make a conscious decision to share the abundance in my life throughout the day. Sometimes that means sharing my time, patience, or attention.
In heavy traffic, it might mean choosing to be courteous to the drivers around me, remembering that they may be struggling in ways I cannot see. At work, it might mean stopping to ask someone about their life and listening to the answer, rather than connecting only over the tasks we need to complete.
If someone is having a difficult day, I might leave a note of encouragement on their desk or bring them a drink. Simple acts of kindness can help someone feel noticed and cared for.
That is what peace in action looks like to me. It becomes visible through the choices we make.
What do you hope women feel encouraged to do after hearing your story?
I think so many of us are hungry for calm, quiet, and peace. We have become accustomed to multitasking and constantly being on the go, but that pace often leaves very little room to recharge.
I hope women feel encouraged to claim time for their own needs without guilt. That might be five minutes, ten minutes, or fifteen minutesโto stop, breathe, take a walk, or sit in the sunshine.
Through Peace is an Action, I encourage people to bring moments of mindfulness into their everyday lives. The practiceโPause, Breathe, Return, Observe, Chooseโcreates an opportunity to notice where we are, reconnect with the present, and respond with greater intention.
We can consciously make room for those moments within a busy day. I want women to know it’s ok to give themselves the grace to rest, find clarity, and care for themselves.
What does this recognition make possible for you?
At the end of the day, I hope it helps me connect with like-minded individuals. I want to build bridges between our shared efforts to empower othersโto encourage people, strengthen one another, and help bring more happiness and peace into our lives.
I think of it as a tapestry. Each person brings a voice, a purpose, and experiences that contribute to the whole.
When I imagine a better society, I imagine one that understands the value of every voice. Every purpose grounded in integrity, responsibility, kindness, and compassion contributes to the structure we are building together.
We need one another. My hope is to become part of a network connected by a genuine common purpose, where we can influence, empower, and uplift each other.
What does being an influential woman ultimately mean to you?
It means doing my part, consistently and with care. It means being willing to share what I have learned while remaining open to what others can teach me.
I hope my work encourages someone to treat herself with greater kindness, recognize the value of her experience, or make room for a moment of peace. I hope my actions offer that same encouragement.
And I hope this recognition helps me connect with others who want to do the same. The world we are hoping for takes many voices and many contributions and each voice of integrity and responsibility, when based upon valuing diversity, kindness, and compassion, is an integral part of the structure that creates the utopia we’re looking for. We can’t do it alone; the whole point is, we have to do it together.
