Who do you write for?

At the end of the day, who is it that you are writing for? Striving for? Spending unnumbered hours bent over a keyboard for? Who are you pleasing the most with what it is your mind, heart and soul is creating?

Are you pandering to the masses? Are you spending hours researching the hottest topics, biggest stories, hippest themes to fashion your offerings after? Are you seeking acceptance on a national and even global scale? Do you find yourself striving after numbers, stats, and cumulative counts?

Do your posts, stories, poems, and pictures reflect something other than the passion in your soul? Are you worried about what someone else will think? Do you back peddle, rewrite, delete content, scrub the floors and blast out the windows of your house of cards in order to make it more palatable, more โ€œpublishableโ€?

Or are you committed to satisfying the longings of your heart? To share something of yourself? To speak into the darkness a light that is worth exploring, seeking after, even following? Do you open your heart, bare your soul, and let the pieces fall where they may?

Do you believe enough in your gift to utilize it responsibly, conscientiously, and fulfill a purpose you may never be aware of?

If you do, If you are, then you know the truest, richest joy there is, and one that is far more satisfying than any material or monetary recompense imaginable.

I hope you do ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I write for me to express what is inside of me. If others like it then I smile. But I usually smile before I post it public. It is a blessing+

    1. It truly is a blessing…one I am enjoy immensely…but I find it so wonderful that thru the blessing that is inspiring me, the blessing is also inspiring others. LOL either that or making them dizzy!!

  2. The more people who leave comments on my blog, the clearer picture I get of my “reader,” or “readers.” And they’re the ones I write for. So the better I can envision them, the better (I think) I can speak to them. All of this means: the people who leave comments on blogs, especially comments that go beyond “loved this!” are an essential part of the creation of the blog, and especially its voice, going forward!

  3. I write solely for myself, as a way to escape the hectic chaos that is reality(Also to prove to myself that I CAN write)
If someone will happen upon my stuff and enjoys it, that’ll make it even better, but it’s not something that’s incredibly important to me.
