For Lent

For Lent I give up my Doubts and Fear,
All my Hopelessness and Shame,
I Follow You; Your Sight is Clear,
An Eternal, Comforting, Holy Flame.

For Lent I let go of all Uncertainty,
Questions that haunt my Thoughts by Day;
I Trust and Hope in Your Surety,
Here Beside You in Hope I’ll Stay.

For Lent I Fast from Gluttonous Feasting
Upon my Pride and Need for Praise;
My Love for You, Ever Increasing,
As my Voice in Songs I Raise!

For Lent I Cease my Wandering,
Straying long and far from Thee;
No Longer Shamelessly Squandering,
The Blessings You Richly Pour Out for Me.

For Lent I give up Fruitless Living,
Walking through this Life Alone;
I Take Your Hand and Follow, Willing,
Down the Path You’ve Graciously Shown.

You are more precious than your heart allows you to believe, but take it from a brother friend who deeply knows, that God has always loved you very much, and from His loving embrace will never let you go! Breathtaking poem you have written Morgan, I thought about you last night after reading your comment, and I knew that a blessing would be found in your words today, not for me…but for you. As I dry my tears of amazement and joy, I sit in astonished wonder…how the Good Sweet Lord works in so Loving and Mysterious ways to touch our hearts and minds through the Blessing He has Blessed by me to Share. Thank You Wendell, for your comment that will lift me up for years to come. Thank you for the encouragement, the Faith you have in ME, the Love your Share in Christ that touches my heart and makes my Soul Smile.

    1. 🙂 Everyone always asks “What did you give up for Lent.” I was thinking about it the other morning while praying and this came Through to me from The Spirit. I thought, YES< this is a Lenten Sacrifice I can Live with All Year 🙂

  6. I am no longer religious, but having been raised Catholic, I always observe Lent in some way. I usually selfishly take the opportunity to better my health by giving up potato chips or sugar or meat. I love all your posts. This one touched me, making a tradition more thoughtful for me this year. Blessings 🙂

    1. Thank You so Very Much, Dreams 😉 I usually dont give anything up…because I know I wont last the whole season of Lent anyway…so this year, while I was praying, these thoughts came to me and I realized…YES!! Give up what you dont want in the first place 🙂

      I am so blessed to be a blessing to others in some way…and so happy you find relevance in the words I share for your own journey.
