Ode to an Ode

ode

Oh dear Ode!
You make me
Smile
Youโ€™re full
Of Guile
You are Tall
And Slender
You are Harsh
Or Tender
You are All
You are not
You are Willing
But not A lot
You Give
You Plead
You Laugh
You Bleed
I Find You
In my Weakness
I See Your
Sumptuous Sleekness
I Hear You
In my Glory
You who are
Old as Story.
Oh Ode!

  1. This is so clever. I enjoyed the idea of writing an ode to an ode! My favorite phrases were:

    I find you
    In my Weakness
    I See Your
    Sumptuous Sleekness

    1. Thank You Mary ๐Ÿ™‚ I was struck by the humour in the ode to my socks in the example and just thought, why not an ode to the ode ๐Ÿ™‚ Im so glad you got the giggle in it !

  2. Very clever choice of subject – and carried off sublimely. There are some beautiful lines, which Neruda would have been proud of, I think. BTW, have you read his Ode to Laziness?
