Breathtaking!
Frozen stance and frozen gaze
held against Novemberโs haze
that claims the forestโs silver blues,
enrobes his shape within the hues
till seems heโs near forgotten.
First good snow, first good dance
that softens rich this leaโs expanse
against the stark November sky
and captures cold the reasons why
heโll pause where no footโs trodden.
He claims a step, he claims just two,
lifts his nose to hold in view
black lines across Novemberโs sky
in angles long and hushed wingโs sigh,
he hears the geese in callingโฆ
Calling home, calling free
to stand at forestโs edge and lea,
to hold Novemberโs first white blush
beneath the gentle downy rush
and winterโs season falling.
