Rose Gardens and Salt Sea Air

CapeMayBoatLR

The Time has come and I cannot in good Conscience stay the tide any longer. Three years have passed since I last took a proper holiday; yes, three years! Now, I am on the brink of setting forth once more, sojourning to my favourite place (on this side of the Atlantic that is!), Cape May, New Jersey.

OH such a lovely, restful, charming island of enchantment and delight that draws you in like a melodic tune, playing gently amidst the soft ocean hush and the songs of the sea faring gulls and terns, captivating your heart entirely before the serenade is finished playing. Quiet Private Seaside, Balmy ocean-kissed Breezes, Elaborate Victorian Homes, Guest Houses, Inns, Bed and Breakfasts and long established hotels; Fine Dining, Casual Street-side Cafรฉs, Quaint Shoppes, Artisan Galleries, Horse-Drawn Carriages, an operating Lighthouse, a picturesque Pebble Beach, a charming little Winery, a Playhouse, Music, Wine and Art Festivals, Afternoon Tea and sweet baked treats, Leisurely Bike Rides, Long unhurried Walks, Sea Glass Hunting, and vistas to entice even the most stalwart heart all delivered with unmistakable Victorian Flair.

Whatโ€™s not to like, really. So, though it has been a ridiculously long interval, I am finally returning, as I always do, because no other ocean-side town has claimed a more permanent place in my heart or thoughts. Much like He who always walks with me, silent yet ever present, this place calls to my spirit and beguiles me entirely.

While I am away, I shall take, very possibly, hundreds of pictures, some of which I shall share during my holiday (because I cannot in all honesty simply walk away from all of you and my home away from home, booknvolume) (or my laptop for that matter!) and some I shall share upon my return, but before these few days of sensual delight (sensual as in of the senses!) are over, even if you have never before heard of Cape May, New Jersey, you shall know it far better. And perhaps, should you feel so inclined, one day you may visit this most appealing place as well and find me amidst the rose gardens or stooped over on the beach in search of minute treasure.

Though I shall be thinking of you all, and missing you, I shall not be taking much time away from my long awaited holiday to visit blogs, like or comment, but I do hope you will forgive my momentary diversion.

Blessings, Peace, Love, Hope and Sweetest Joy Touch your Lives and Smile Upon you.

  1. Happy Vacation, Morgan, and safe travels! All of us need time away from our daily routine — to rejuvenate, to rest, to get a new perspective on things. This sounds like a lovely place to visit. I’ve only been to New Jersey once, I think, but never to Cape May. Reminds me a bit of Gulfport!

  2. This will be a great adventure, each time you go back to somewhere there is something you appreciate once again or discover something new! I love the Eastern Seaboard, I had relatives up in Rockport, Massachusetts. It would be colder there up North, than in New Jersey. I will imagine you relishing and loving every minute! You deserve this vacation, Morgan!

      1. Nature shows us both sides of itself, like us humans, have to learn to love and respect both. Sometimes beauty is actually magnified and made more visible through the presence of great danger. Kids and I saw a tornado and wall cloud up close and personal, wasn’t smartest idea in life, but it almost hypnotized us with it’s beauty even though brain was shouting, What is wrong with you people?
